Beaches in San Felice Circeo

San Felice Circeo is a chamber resort located on the famous Odyssey Riviera, which stretches from Rome to Naples. Picturesque views, long beaches covered with golden sand, clean air and rich ancient history attract thousands of travelers every year.

The town is divided into 2 parts: one lie on the top of the mountain, the other at its foot. They say that several thousand years ago the mountain was an island. The legendary Odysseus sailed past him, the ship of which tried to sink the insidious sorceress of Circe. The hero coped with black magic and a pier to the rocky shores. He was so impressed by the local beauty that he lingered in these parts.

The distance between cities is 132 km. It can be overcome by different modes of transport.

By car
It will take about 1 hour 40 minutes on the road. Car rental is located at Termini Station. A week of renting a middle class car will cost about 300 €. Diesel costs about 1.3 €. The path runs through a picturesque area, so the trip will bring great aesthetic pleasure. Some sections of the highway are paid.

By bus
You need to get to the terminal station Laurentina on branch B. From there buses leave for various resorts. Look for vehicles marked Roma – San Felice Circeo. Many flights are available daily. Travel time is about 3 hours. Ticket price – 5.30 €. See the schedule here.

By train with bus
Take any subway line to Termini Train Station. Buy a ticket to the Napoli Station Priverno-Fossanova train. Check to see if there is a stop in Fossanov, as not all trains to Naples stop at the resort. Ticket price – 5 €. Travel time is 50 minutes. Trains run at intervals of 30-40 minutes. Train timetables are here.

At the Fossanov station, transfer to the bus. He goes to the beach and then to the city center. There is a San Felice Circeo sign on the side and front windows of the bus, so it’s simply impossible not to notice the transport. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Tickets cost 1 €.

The mild climate is ideal for relaxing. The coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea boasts an abundance of warm and sunny days in the year. The holiday season begins in mid or late May and ends only in early October. In summer, the air temperature is 27-28 ° C. The heat peak occurs in July; the thermometer crosses the +30 ° C boundary. The heat is not felt thanks to the refreshing breeze. Water warms up to 25-26 ° C. The coldest month is January, the thermometer does not show more than +10 ° C.

Local beaches are ideal for families with small children: velvet yellow sand, a shallow bottom, comfortable descent to the sea. Many stretches of coastline are marked with the “Blue Flag”. This is the highest award for environmental friendliness and cleanliness.

The long beach is divided into paid and free sites. Paid areas are equipped with toilets, changing cabins, showers, sunbeds and umbrellas. As a rule, there are children’s playgrounds and sports grounds. Entrance costs from 15 to 20 €. For this money, vacationers get not only access to infrastructure, but also a set of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for the whole day.

Free sites also have infrastructure, but it is not so well developed. A large number of people exclude a secluded and measured rest.

In the immediate vicinity of the foot of the mountain, soft sand passes into the rocky shore, cut by grottoes and small caves. In this part of the beach there are always many divers and snorkelling enthusiasts. Crystal water allows you to see the marine life in detail.

Behind the port lies a pretty miniature bay with a free beach. There are always a lot of vacationers. At the end of September, tourists are replaced by surfers who come to catch waves arising from strong winds blowing from the sea.

A variety of cafes, restaurants, bars and taverns stretch along the coast, serving delicious dishes of European and Italian cuisine. Be sure to treat yourself to delicious fish and seafood delicacies.

If you rent apartments and prefer to cook on your own, all the necessary products can be purchased at the Carrefour supermarket. It is located almost in the very center of the city, on Via Monte Circeo. The store is open daily, except Sunday, from 8:00 to 21:00.

Da franco

The appearance of the long beach is fully consistent with the marine theme. At the entrance, guests are greeted by a snow-white wooden open-air restaurant, similar to a ship. On perfectly clean sand there are dense rows of sunbeds and umbrellas. There are sports fields, a children’s town, catamaran rental and bicycle parking. Franco Beach is famous for loud parties that last until the morning. Paid entrance.
